STRIKER Jay Rodriguez struck twice as Burnley's second string opened their Pontin's League campaign with a win.
Chris Lynch put the Clarets ahead just before the half-hour, before Rodriguez sealed the points with a second-half brace.
In horrendous conditions, in persistent rain which gradually got worse, the sides produced a game which flowed from end to end.
From the off there were chances, with Alex MacDonald heading Ben Hoskin's cross just wide of the near post.
At the other end, Diego Penny was called into action to deny Chris Mason, after Burnley-born Richie Baker pulled a shot past post.
Midway through the half, Ricky Anane pumped in a deep cross from the left, Domaine Rouse powered in a header at the far post, but Penny reacted brilliantly to keep the ball out with his legs.
Shortly after, Bury were unconvincing in their efforts to clear Adam Kay's corner, and Lynch forced the ball home.
Penny was called on to make stops from Danny Racchi and Baker before the break, but the Clarets maintained their lead into the interval.
Five minutes after the restart, Rodriguez added the second, finishing a delightful move with a thumping header from MacDonald's centre, and 10 minutes later he made it 3-0 when the finished well from 12 yards.
Steve Jones went close with a fierce strike which had to be turned over by Cameron Belford, and the Shakers keeper produced a double stop to keep out MacDonald.
Rodriguez thought he had netted a hat-trick goal shortly before the end, only to see the linesman's flag, but the points were in the bag.
