A 22-YEAR-OLD Clarets fan is recovering in hospital after suffering nasty injuries in a fall at Turf Moor.
Simon Townley is said to have slipped on yellow paint strips on the steps of the Bob Lord Stand, during Saturday's match against Ipswich, and broke his arm and damaged his kneecap.

He was taken to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, where he underwent a six-hour operation on Monday because the break was particularly complex.

Hairdresser Simon, who has brittle bone disease, is currently recovering from the surgery.

His mum, Sandra Speight, said: "Simon usually bounces back very quickly and will not let this stop him from doing what he wants to do. He will be back on his feet as soon as he can."

Members of St John Ambulance were first to treat Simon. And about 15 minutes later paramedics arrived to take him to hospital.

Scores of Clarets fans have been leaving get well messages for Simon and wishing him a speedy recovery on messageboards.

A football club spokesman said: "This unfortunate incident was dealt with by paramedics at the club and Simon was subsequently transferred to hospital. Everyone at Burnley Football Club would like to pass on their best wishes for a full and speedy recovery."
