A MIXED bag of results in the Slazenger East Lancs Tennis League saw Burnley A whitewash Blackburn Northern B.
Iain Taylor and Paul Barlow won both their rubbers, winning 6-1, 6-1, before a 6-2, 6-2 success against the second pair.

Ken Greenwood and Jordan Little also won both their rubbers, 6-4, 6-1 and 6-2, 7-5.

However, Burnley C took on league leaders Accrington, losing a tight match 3-2 on sets.

Danny Taylor and Matthew Hargreaves won both their rubbers, 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

Phil Teasdale and Daniel Penrose then lost a hard-fought first rubber 6-7, 7-6, 2-6, before losing their second in straight sets, 0-6, 4-6.

Also in the Third Division, Burnley D again suffered defeat, although it was a closer match than in recent weeks.

Darren Bradshaw and Eddie Milne won both their rubbers in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 and 6-3, 0-6, 6-4, but there was no joy for Liam Taylor and Danny Moorhouse, who lost both their rubbers, 5-7, 3-6 and 6-7, 5-7.

In the Ladies League First Division, Burnley A beat Crow Wood Leisure A in a double-header.

Donna Stott and Jo Heywood won all their four rubbers in the first match without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0.

Gillian Blackadder and Christine Ashton also won all four in their first match, 7-6, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-1, but the second match of the double-header was conceded by Crow Wood after the weather turned nasty.
