PADIHAM will go in search of their first silverware since 1999 when they meet Ribblesdale Wanderers in the final of the Ramsbottom Cup on Sunday.
The Arbories witnessed back-to-back league championships in 1998 and 1999.

And there have been several near misses in the chase for the league title in the years since then.

But the Ramsbottom Cup has not found its way to Padiham since 1973.
And that is something they will be aiming to put right on Sunday when wickets are pitched at 1 p.m. at Barnoldswick's Victory Park.

Clinching the cup could be the first part of a league and cup double for Padiham.

With nine league games to go, they are in fourth spot but lie just 12 points – the equivalent of one maximum points win – behind leaders Great Harwood.

And they will hope to make inroads into that deficit tomorrow when they meet local rivals Read at the Arbories.

In the Sponsorbank Lancashire League, Lowerhouse are still bidding for a second league title.

With 10 games to go they are third in the table and 23 points behind leaders Accrington, the side they meet on the last day of the season.

Tomorrow they travel to Todmorden and will be hoping to keep the pressure on the leaders and second-placed Rawtenstall.

Burnley face pressure of a different kind at the wrong end of the table.
But tomorrow they have the chance to distance themselves from the bottom two when they entertain defending champions Rishton, the side currently lying next-to-bottom of the table.

Wickets are pitched at 1-30 p.m. in the Veka Ribblesdale League and 15 minutes earlier in the Sponsorbank Lancashire League.
