Schools evacuated due to bomb scare on GCSE day
The schools were among at least 26 nationwide and a major shopping centre were evacuated after a spate of hoax bomb threats yesterday morning - as GCSE exams started.
Calls warning of a “suspicious package” led to the lockdown of Redwood School and Oulder Hill School, both in Rochdale, while educational establishments from Leeds to Cornwall were also forced to close.

Hide AdBritish Army specialists were called in after hoax threats at Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton, Nottinghamshire.
It is believed the first anonymous call was made to Canterbury High School saying there was a bomb on site and “the shrapnel will take children’s heads off”.
