POSSIBLY the first statue in Europe in honour of the late Jamaican reggae star Bob Marley has been unveiled in a village in Serbia.
It is hope the statue will help to promote tolerance in a region which is still recovering from the effects of war.
Two musicians, from Croatia and Serbia, unveiled the monument in Banatski Sokolac at a gathering of rock bands from the Balkans.
"Bob Marley promoted peace and tolerance in his music," organiser Mirko Miljus is reported to have said.
There is a trend of raising monuments to Western icons - Bosnians have erected a monument to Bruce Lee in Mostar and Serbs have put up a statue to Rocky Balboa.
