Escapee rare pigs invade Worsthorne conservatory

A PAIR of rare pigs stopped off in Worsthorne and joined Tony and Elva Cockett in their conservatory for brunch.
Mr and Mrs Cockett were enjoying a cup of coffee on Saturday morning when they spotted the two visitors, who had got into the garden of their Duncan Close home.
The couple realised the pigs were of a rare breed, due to their colouring and hairiness, but found them friendly and used to human contact.
During their three-hour visit, the pigs charmed the couple and devoured a loaf of bread.
But before they could get their trotters under the table, the couple lured them with more food into their garage to keep them safe while they contacted the RSPCA and Burnley police.
A short time later, RSPCA inspector Caroline Hall arrived to take the pigs off the couple's hands and to a centre in Bolton.
On Tuesday, a couple from Worsthorne contacted the Express for help in locating two pigs who had escaped from their home on Saturday. They have since been in contact with the RSPCA and are hoping the intrepid pair will be confirmed as their pets and returned next week.
